I am an experienced academic and strategic leader with over 20 years of service in higher education, curriculum design, and applied research. I hold a BEng (Hons) in Computer Science and Engineering and an MSc in Information and Communication Technologies from the University of Mauritius. I earned my PhD in Computer Science from the Université Côte d’Azur, France, with a specialization in Bioinformatics. My academic journey is complemented by a Diploma in IT Infrastructure with a focus on Cloud Computing and Cybersecurity, as well as an MBA, which further supports my capacity for strategic planning, academic management, and cross-functional leadership.
My teaching and leadership philosophy is deeply rooted in excellence, innovation, and relevance to industry needs. I spent nearly two decades at the Université des Mascareignes (UdM), where I held several leadership roles including Senior Lecturer, Head of Department, and Campus Director. I co-founded the Department of Applied Computer Science and later established and led the Department of Emerging Technologies within the Faculty of Sustainable Development and Engineering.
Throughout my academic career, I have been driven by a passion for learner success and future-ready education. I have designed and coordinated several industry-aligned programs, including the BSc Applied Computer Science, Master in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics and the MSc in Industrial Internet of Things, all validated by professional stakeholders and launching with strong institutional support. My academic interests span Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, Cloud Computing and Cybersecurity.
As a strategic leader, I have cultivated a collaborative and transparent approach to academic governance, working effectively across departments and with external stakeholders. I have experience with institutional planning, program accreditation, and academic quality assurance. I have also played key roles in student engagement activities, including open days, induction programs, job fairs, and academic selection processes—ensuring that student experience remains at the center of educational development.
I founded the Centre for Research on Emerging Technologies and Innovation (CREETIV) at UdM, bringing together two labs: Earth / Ocean Lab and Intelligent Systems. This initiative fostered cross-disciplinary collaboration and contributed to the university’s innovation agenda and secured several grants.
Fluent in both English and French, with Mauritian Creole as my mother tongue and working knowledge of Hindi, I bring a bilingual, multicultural perspective to my teaching and leadership. I remain committed to fostering academic excellence, driving strategic transformation, and mentoring the next generation of students and educators in a rapidly evolving technological world.
